My role: I was tasked with creating a feasible CAD model by modifying a remote manipulator design used in the Fukushima Daichii Nuclear Power Plant cleanup.
Time allocated: 2.5 months
Deliverables: Feasibility report, costing estimate, CAD model
Requirements: Using client provided site 3D models, show that we could satisfy the dimensional requirement of the clients storage tanks.
Status: On time and on budget.
The aim of this study is to examine the processes and equipment required for the retrieval of waste in the RCD HAO Silo at La Hague. The HAO silo has been used to store waste from the recycling process of PWR and fuel. The waste includes:
-Structural wastes: hulls and end pieces
-Liquid effluents (contaminated water with fines and resins)
-Technological wastes such as filters, hoses, pumps, drums and aluminum lids.
